Hello Families and Friends!
Here are some updates from this week.
Thank yous!
Thanks to Judy for bringing in our classroom fish!
Family Breakfast
Monday morning, from 8:15 - 9:00 will be our family breakfast. Students will share their superhero stories. If your student has not finished his or her story, they may be typed over the weekend. The stories are already written so if you would like to type these to speed up the process, that is fine with me! Some students have told me they prefer to write them. I will email stories that have been started in school.
Stuff Needed
When we painted our room we rearranged some furniture and created a new comfy area. If you have extra pillows or throw rugs, send 'em on in! We are also in need of headphones for the classroom computers if anyone has extra. We could use more snack as well.
Conferences
Parent conferences are coming up. A notice was sent home on Wednesday with available conference times. Please let me know by next Friday, either by email or on the note, which times you would like.
Curriculum Updates
Math - We are working with numbers in the hundreds. This past week we all built one thousand charts. This coming week we will be using estimation to add 3-digit numbers.
Reading - Next week we will continue to practice all the things we have learned about book clubs.
Writing - After our Superhero unit ends, we will start writing personal narratives. Next week, students will brainstorm ideas for a personal narrative.
Social Studies - This week we will return to social studies. Students will start to explore the settlers that arrived on the Mayflower and the reasons they came to our country. On Tuesday, we will attend a virtual field trip through a live broadcast from Plimoth Plantation!
Word Study
This week will be be studying words that double consonants. For example, stop becomes stopped, stopping, etc. I am adding a fun song as bonus word study homework to the homework packet.
Thank you Judy, for the fish; that must have been very exciting.
ReplyDeleteSorry I can't make this breakfast. I'm sure it will be great. Can photos be posted here?
